Baby Bird

The Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl matched up against the Patriots -- what a time to be alive!! It's less than two hours now until kick-off and the anticipation has been building throughout the week. My husband said it feels like Christmas Eve when you can't sleep because you're so excited and the suspense of whether or not Santa came keeps you tossing and turning all night long -- I'm not a big football fan, but today I 100% agree with him.

Besides our team being in the Super Bowl, this year is especially exciting because it's Anthony's first Super Bowl and I know he's going to bring us good luck just like he has all throughout the season. C'mon he's got red hair -- can you say luck of the Irish?! Not to mention a few short minutes ago I had the pleasure of changing his diaper... and it was green. Definitely a good omen. We bleed green... he shits it!

Anthony with his dad on 01-24-17 watching his 1st Eagles game.

Ant was born on September 18 and so began the birds' winning streak. But the struggle is what defines this team. It's what makes the fans so great, so passionate (crazy), a little broken, but ultimately appreciative of each outcome of every game they've won. They don't take things for granted. They know nothing is guaranteed as they painstakingly saw their star quarterback go down just as they clinched their playoff spot. That's why I'm happy Anthony will grow up watching this team. I want him to be like the underdog. I want him to be humble. I want him to be on a team that loses more times than they win so he can appreciate every one of those wins and work harder and harder at every practice.

Anthony now at 4 months old.

You might think Ant, just 4 months old is a fan by default -- afterall, I'm the one who makes sure his Eagles onesies are washed and ready for game day. But that's only temporary... I know sooner rather than later he will be going into his closet on his own, reaching for his Eagles jersey every Sunday between September and January just like his dad. He'll settle in for a roller coaster of a match-up and hold his breath at every play watching his team prove themselves once again.
